USER EXPERIENCE DESIGN
Integrate external EMR (electronic medical records) application, Practice Fusion, with current PlushCare web application to streamline doctor's portal. Explore possible options for native iOS mobile design for increased consultation flexibility.
We explored a variety of research methodologies after receiving our client brief. Ultimately, we found that the key research methods that yielded the most meaningful results were heuristic analysis, surveys, and user interviews.
The heuristic analysis allowed us to assess the issues that needed to be prioritized in the current PlushCare application model. Conducting a survey among practicing doctors validated the need to design a mobile platform. Information that we gathered from user interviews confirmed that, in order for doctors to increase productivity and efficiency, EMR integration was necessary. In addition, we learned that doctors also had difficulty taking accurate patient notes during and after consultations via web and mobile.
Following the research process, we created a persona who represented the aggregate of all our research subjects. Having her in place made it possible for us to begin informing key design ideas.
With our research data in hand combined with our persona, we were able to identify the primary problems to find design solutions for.
Doctors desire more flexibility and mobility when conducting e-consultations. In addition, they would like to cut back on time spent data-mining prior to seeing patients as well as be able to take accurate notations when they're on-the-go.
DESIGN STUDIO: RAPID PRELIMINARY SKETCHES
In order to approach design, the team began by doing several rounds of rapid, preliminary sketches in order to help our ideas take shape.
To help the team work out a user flow for our mobile design, I sketched out a storyboard/user journey illustrating a use case that demonstrates how doctors would most likely operate the application on their smartphones.
DIGITAL WIREFRAMES & LOW-FIDELITY PROTOTYPE
Once we were able to align on key design decisions, we created a digitized wireframe which we turned into a low-fidelity prototype for usability testing.
TESTING LOW-FIDELITY PROTOTYPES
Testing our low-fidelity prototypes on users proved incredibly useful towards validating and invalidating design decisions in order to help us make necessary changes and begin working on our final deliverables.
Design a PlushCare mobile doctor's platform integrated with EMR software, Practice Fusion, to facillitate time-efficiency and productivity. In addtion, add a dictation feature to allow for accurate patient notation.
